Thomas Oliver (Sticks) is the drummer for the band Positive Connection. His style consists of a contemporary jazzy, funk. Thomas was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Because his entire family has the gift of playing music, he appreciates his inherited musical trait.

Thomas enjoys playing live shows, night clubs, and outdoor concerts. His interest and pursuit are in mentoring and teaching adolescents or adults the skills of playing the entire drum set, professionalism, and leadership skills. In 1985, he earned a B.A. degree in Public Administration from North Carolina Central University. In 2008, he earned a M.Ed. degree from Strayer University of Washington, DC.

Thomas started playing drums as a teenager. He was influence to play drums by his brother, Robert Oliver (Funky Rob). Consequently, Thomas is intrigued to be playing along with his oldest brother Donald Oliver (Fab) once again on the keyboards. Many years ago, he played with Fab in bands called the New Cavaliers and Rated X.

Thomas is motivated by fascinating drummers such as Dave Weckle, Dennis Chambers, and Billy Cobham. He enjoys listing to many groups such as Spyro Gyra, Yellow Jackets, and Weather Report who always have hot, hot drummers.
